Provides ethics consultation services to physicians and other health care professionals, families and, when appropriate, patients. The service participates in the development and teaching of ethics to pediatric residents and nurses and in departmental/service/unit rounds. It provides ethics expertise to the Pediatric Ethics Committee, which is responsible for reviewing ethical issues, developing plocies and planning educational programs on pediatric ethics, to the Research Ethics Board and provides assistance for hospital ethics policy development.
