Over the years, the Trauma Programs of the Montreal Children's Hospital have continued to develop in order to continue to meet the needs of the children and teens of the province:
- 1971: Opening Quebec's first pediatric burn unit
- 1989: Developed Quebec's first pediatric neurotrauma (brain injury) program
- 1993: Designated as a provincial supra-regional pediatric and adolescent trauma centre (renewed in 1998 and 2001)
- 1997: Developed an innovative program for the management of concussions in children and adolescents
- 2000: Expansion and re-organization of the Trauma Program to include all types and severities of trauma under one inter-professional system of care
- 2001: Designated as a provincial neurotrauma centre of expertise
- 2002: Re-organization of the Burn Trauma Program. First pediatric hospital in Quebec to use a silver dressing to treat severe burns in children.
- 2006: Expansion of the Injury Prevention Program
- 2007: Expansion of the MTBI and Return to Sports Program
- 2007: Development of the MCH Concussion KiT
- 2008: Development of an inter-professional mild traumatic brain injury clinic
- 2008: Expansion of the Trauma Research section
